When I speak of factions I am assuming the Comander will be able to choose between a variety of 'races', each independent of the selection of heroes that can join the game. I would love to see a Ratmen/Scaven type faction, as well as an undead faction. What races/factions would you guys like to see in the game?

Honestly I would love too see the lore so a faction does not stick out like a sore thumb. However, I do think I would like too see a ratman faction as well.

I'm always a fan of the human factions fighting against the hordes.

Based on the somber colors of the artwork so far, I feel that an undead fraction would look amazing. Also, a fallen/ruined civilization would look cool, with faded colors and a desperate feel; it would look so cool based on the artwork so far.

Ahh someone has not seen enough of the hippie version of the drwaf we see in a lot of modern games...

Anyway, while an Undead Civ would be cool. I am still for a more scvanager sort of faction. I like the feel of factions that seem too just gather and use whatever they find.

Well if we get a ratmen faction I want them to be less scaven-ish (( As in less genocidal and no crazy weapons =p)), Also it seems no body wants an elvish faction? Well I guess we already had enough of the recent reincarnations of elves being the usually stated as wise, immortal, beatuiful etc.((or as TVtropes states it Elves are just better)) Actually now that I think about it the only Elves I liked were the Warhammer, and the Tolkien elves((as in the orginial elves))

Oh no..Dragon has been overdone over thee years.  Yea, I hope we can strike that balance between more generic races and new creative ones.

I think the obivous choices would be:

-Humans/Elves/Dwarfs (individual or a collective like in other games and books im not sure)
-Fairy/Fae
-Undead (my fav choice and I vote for these guys)
-Babarians/Nomads
-Orcs/Trolls/Ogres/Goblins
- Evil version of Humans/Elves/Dwarfs?

Maybe a race based on subspace or the place between worlds?
Example being http://leagueoflegen...m/wiki/The_Void (sorry I don't mean to link this but it's the only place that can adequatly describe what I mean.)

Do  you realize we do live in subspace? Everything exist in it, because its only a form of measurement of space. Unless you mean the Star Trek version of "subspace". Then yea I guess.

Anyway,  by concept art I can say we already got a "Fae" race.  However I am still against undead races.

By "subspace" I do mean the "star trek" type like the plane the Devidians, the aliens from voyager (Equinox parts 1+2) and god-knows how many others they had come from.

Howcome you are against the Undead? a few RTS games have done an amazing job with them as an individual race standing far apart from other races.

The problem is the my vision of the undead is never properly displayed, brutal and heartless.. Instead games try to fancy them up, or make them all super special. Tries toot give them some heart sobbing reason for being, or their creator is some kinda misunderstood evil. Whatever the case, I have yet too see a true undead that undead are suppose too be. More so without some kind of religious(fictional or not) lore, undead are nothing more then a cheap solider that does the bidding of their baster.

They may be cheap but that means they can have the number game. :)

Remember that TA game that wasn't that good? Total Annhilation: Kingdoms? well..I actually LOVED that game just as much as the original TA and the Undead in that game were as you described: brutal, heartless and relentless.

Warcraft 3's Undead were also pretty good and the same goes with Warlords IV.

I think LOTR is the only Undead that have some "heart sobbing reason" for being.

How about a race based on Ancient Greek Mythology? Volta (like werewolfs but nothing like the Twilight ones), Minotaurs, Gorgons, Centaurs, Satyrs, possibly some Greek-themed humans too?

In Warcraft 3 there were undead that had free will that suffered, then you had the forsaken who broke free of the lich king later. However if you read into the lore the story of the lich king is a sad one filled with betrayal and regret.. So that was a misunderstood evil story with a sad twist.

As too TA I never played Kingdoms, as I was fairly young and never got a hold of Kingdoms. However WarlorD IV I have never heard of.
