Hahaha xD soon as I read that I instantly thought of an army of Mutant Ninja Turtles ;)

What good would a Rabbit be on the battlefield anyway? :o apart from being target practice.

Rabbits can be very dangerous.  They can hop over things.

Would be pretty wicked if they divided the races based off elements, much like Sierra's Lords of Magic game.

So basically . . .

-Life (Good Elfs)
-Death (Undead/Evil Elfs)
-Order (Human Knights)
-Chaos (Human Barbarians)
-Earth (Gnomes/Dwarves)
-Air (Fey)
-Water (Lizardfolk/Waterfolk)
-Fire (Demons/Humans that like to burn things)

Just my two cents :D

Well, I guess because factions appear too have abilities, I would love too see some kinda of faction abilties that augments hero progression too allow them too level faster at the cost of commander abilities. Maybe even grant them a random stat bonus for 10 seconds are something.

Yeah that would be a great idea!

You sacrifice offensive abilities in exchange for increasing the leveling and gold resources for your player heroes so they get a big advantage.

But truthfully, Im sure something will be taken from Warhammer as they have many unique races.

Im always down for a Knight hero, or Lizard hero.

That song (and game) is AMAZING! haven't heard it for ages! :D

What unique races are you reffering to?
Humans? (Terran) Orcs? (Orks) Elves? (Farseer) Tyranid? (Aliens from the films of the same name)

Apart from the Tau I cannot think of any other races that could be "unique"

Tomb Kings, Skaven, Lizardmen, etc.

I think that Games Workshop did an awesome job in regard to their vampire armies. The different bloodlines offer tons of opportunity for various heros/champions. The idea of a shambling horde, that consists mostly of resilient yet useless troops, is pretty good.

I'm really wondering how they're going to break down the General's abilities. We have a Dragonlord and a Merchant so far...

Undead: sacrificing a ton of minions to make a larger monstrosity that causes fear?

As for the skaven/dark elves from GW, they allowed one to hide a hero in a unit of regular infantry, who then functioned as an assassin  (he didn't appear until revealed by the using player). It would be neat to see a hero implement this idea given that minions (or whatever their equivalent is) can be attached to hero's themselves. Thus, an enemy champion would rush to this group of minions confident in the idea that he could destroy them, only to get killed by the assassin hiding in their midst.

As being a huge fan of Total anniliation and Supreme Commander, I'm hope that there will be a machine race of sorts to play with. I always fancy myself as a machine overlord. A quick overview of a idea for a machine army of a fanasty theme, with a hint of steampunk to make it awesome:

Worker unit - Mad Engineer (can only build)
Collector Unit - Clockwork servant (can only harvast resources)
Early game attacker - Clockwork construct (average stats, slighty low mobility)
Ranged attacker - Clockwork Gunner (Low health, good attack, ranged)
Utility - Clockwork Genius (Moderate health, ability to absorb incoming magic in a area and turn it into a shield equal to a % of the spell's cost and effect)
Late Game attacker/defender - Steam Golem (Massive Health, High Attack, very poor mobility)
Game Ender - Steam Behemoth (Think a giant, walking tank with a bulldozer on the front to push units out of the way, a close range flamethrower to remove melee attackers and cannons to blast those trying to run away)

You have engineers as your workers, using them to build everything you need to get your factories, and the power of mass production, up and running. You have clockwork constructs and Gunners as your basic fodder, armed with simple weapons to deal with weak fleshlings. When they begin to fight back with their horses and knights, you bring on the golems. Big, bulky robots weighing tons, and hitting things until they turn into mush.

If the pesky fleshings being using magic, we shall absorb it and use it as a shield against itself.

Plus... golems damn it! Sorry.. i got a love of golems. Love the concept of them.

There's tons of material out there that incorporate machines/engineering with a fantasy base. Typically, you'll see units/characters that are prone to failure, or units that are slow to react.

I hate to reference GW again...but this was an interesting conversion

What would the General's ability be for a Steampunk army?

Mechanization: you build railroads attaching your main base to outposts, allowing for faster transport of units and resources?

How about this as a summon?

I'd love to see a undead faction that actually follows lore. Such as vampires die in the sun, mummies are slow, zomibes are slow, skeletons are fast but weak. With the main hero being a necrowmaner, and the creatures in the factions are pretty much just other dead units of other races, such as vampires, or dark knights, and some ghosts too, especially a banashee where if she screams one unit will die. The idea behind the undead will be damage over time, no healing only ressurecting the dead to serve, the usual rotting the enemy and then reviving them as your army. Of course the racial passives will be immune to fear and suffication however some creatures will have certain weakness. Such as vampires, sunlight, fire and holy weapons.

I'd also love to see a demonic race that follows satanic lore such as sacrificing creatures to summon a stronger creature, like 6 peasants for a big demon, and succubuses that suduce men only.

Another idea would also be a swamp race, where they get  evil aquatic animals like hydras, snakes, giant dragonflys, lizard or frog men, where they have witches that use black magic such as summoning thorny vines, and hexing with vudoo. The differance with the black magic and undead magic would be that the undead magic uses rot and decay to damage the enemy while the witch's black magic would corrupt nature, and manipulate opponents abillities in thier favour.

I would also like to see a human factions that align themselves with holy magic or dragons. So that if they choose holy magic they cant use dragons and vice versa.

As for the machine race we can have them as a gnomes, not the world of warcraft gnomes, but the original inavative miner gnomes who mine gems, and live in mushroom homes, and the dwarf race would be master blacksmiths and architechs.

Has someone been playing might and magic: heroes recently? ;) Because that sounds a lot like them, save they all worship dragons, and have differing types of magic due to thier belifs. Also I'm not sure if they'll have a steampunk faction or not but, it would be cool. A big problem is what the religon will be like becuase they haven't in the slightest given us a hint at what it may or may not be. Also Super, remember you have a commander that has extra abilities to help out as well.

Going to address a few points of this:

1.I am somewhat tired of the traditional Demonic race with hellfire and brimstone raining from the sky and all trying to copy the look of Satan etc etc etc it's been done sooo many times before (same with those goddamn vampires :P)

2.A swamp race would be pretty unique and fresh! voodoo-weilding witches, frogman as the main cannon fodder, hydras as a unique unit (maybe a summoned one like the dragon?).
All in all I would be completly up for a swamp race!

3. It's interesting that you say "holy magic" because the most times I have seen a human faction they have always followed the "good" path with a holy good god they serve. I think it might be more interesting for Humans to actually be the bad guys and have the other factions (such as the Undead) trying to stop their evil ways
(I've posted a more detailed explanation on this somewhere in this thread :P )

4. If we are to have a machine race then they would have to be steam punk to even fit the lore and you could always have Gnomes and Dwarfs being the creators of them (Having Dwarfs being intelligent intstead of the usual beer-hungry-axe-weilding type)

I dont think religion has to have a part in a faction at all. Some may worship some sort of god but that doesn't mean they all have to follow one. One faction may have long abandoned religion for a more scientific explanation on things, Look a the factions of Rise of Legends as an example: 1 science, 1 magic and 1 religious faction.

Well not undead human race that worships dragons, I was thinking of a human race that chooses dragons to ride on and become friends with. Like skyrim, but instead of killing dragons, you team up with them. The undead race focuses on death, and killing. Also what's might and magic?

Also with the demon race it's been done, however it's been done poorly. there are no blood corpses impaled on spikes. The idea of the demon race that other games have done is very mild and tamed. Where's the suffering? Where's the blood? Where's the pain and fear? I want a demon race that the units sever the limbs off thier enemies and beat them to a pulp, then they rip apart the corpses to create some sort of ritual to make it rain fire on a innocent village.

As for the swamp i was thinking maybe mayan architechure, and straw huts, with poisons and reptiles.
