Well, this forum needs some sort of thread and what better than one where we can get to know each other better?

My name is Ian and im from Ellesmere Port (Not far from either Liverpool or Chester and right in the middle of the two)

I am into ALOT of Sci-Fi tv, films and novels ranging from Doctor Who, Stargate, Star Trek to Terra Nova, Farscape, Mass Effect and many many others!

Suffice to say I am also into alot of games (I have so many it is impossible to list them all) with obivous ones being League of Legends, Mass Effect, SupCom (TA aswell) and Battlefield.

I am a very open guy and if you want to know anything else you just have to ask.

So, who's next?! don't be shy now

It is your choice if you want to remain anon but I thought that it would be a good idea to get a thread started that allowed people to introduce themselves, afterall, this is a brand new community and surely people will want to get to know their fellow players, right?

I to have quite a background on MMO's, RTS, RPG and alot of other action, platform and a couple of DoTa (LoL and a single game of HoN that put me off it for life)

I don't like football or other sports games myself as I am not really much of a sportsfan (do you count wreslting as a sport anymore?) but I have enjoyed a couple of racing games recently such as Split/Second, thought it was actually fun for once

Well I have played far too many RPGS too mention in a forum, some of the ones I love the most are Morrowind, Knights of the Old Republic, Fallout 2, and Recettear.


And yes wrestling is sport, but its still stupid. In fact I don't play any sports, nor have I ever been interested in any.  Also racing games are just so bad because they are not hard they are boring, and I don't understand half of what the different is between the cars.

Sup everyone!

I thought I'd introduce myself as well since there's a good chance I'll be playing with some of you when this beast is released.

So I'm Anton, 25, a masters student in educational technology, Russian of origin but now living in montreal with my lovely gf. Love reading, swimming, music and of course games, among many other things. When it comes to gaming however (music too now that I think of it) I'm actually very, very picky. I believe I've been spolied by classics like System Shock 2, Deus Ex and Thief to a point where almost no moddern game will do. Seriously, I dislike most game out at the moment. Because of this I tend to be the type of gamer who pirates, then buys if he likes the game. It may not be the right thing to do, but I believe its the smart thing to do since demos are long gone.

Anyway, the games I have purchased (Collector's/Special Editions if i can find them) and play to this day include the three mentioned above as well as the Witcher series, Unreal Tournament series, Supreme Commander and FA games (not the second disaster of a game) Sins series, Stalker series and recently the Homeworld series. I play casually but I have participated in some UT3 tourney matches and even won a few. I'm very excited to see what this new SINS game is about and i hope to add it to my collection when released. I never really gave this type of game a chance before so i can't promise to stick around but I plan to try my best to enjoy this one and support this wonderful developer.

Hello, everyone.

I'm have a fair amount of trepidation at the prospect of putting my real name online, but my friends refer to me as "Kitty" if you prefer shorthand/nicknames to usernames.

I'm a 20 year old student in the eastern USA and find myself drawn to games more often than studies. League of Legends is the most common game for me these days, which is why I have an interest in SoaDA, but I also sometimes go to FPS, RPG, or indie games to unwind and play without focusing so much on efficiency. I've never really had a taste for RTS games, but that just means I'll rely on some of you to be my commander in game.

I look forward to serving in and under you all on the fields!

DX: Human Revolution did a great thing in that they made it feel like the original DX though obviously not open world and you are unable to change the story with very small choices BUT it was still a very worthy sequel (I refuse to name that abomination of a sequel they released a few years after DX1)

I can understand why you will not say your real name online especially with how people can act while online (only this morning I found a "Post your Pics" thread on the LoL forums almost all of the girls flamed her for posting her pics nevermind all of the guys trying to hit on her)

I play alot of League of Legends aswell (I LOVE playing as Nautilus! the first tank I can actually feel usefull in). What champions do you normally play as?
I heard today that Morello is going to work on a Nature-based caster of some sort! hopefully going to be good

Well, I'm only half way through my first semester, but if I had to describe it, it analyzes the way people learn and have learned for years and merges it with our rapidly developing technology. For a better example, my current assignment consists of creating a business plan for ICAO Int. to offer distance education management courses to airline and airport professionals worldwide. It's a very interesting project but very new to me as my background is actually early childhood education. Still, I'm enjoying it and alot of the topics we discuss entail technology, gaming, community building and transferable values.

As for DX:HR, I'd have to disagree with you there unfortunately. I tried playing the game but I can never finish it. I find it comes no where near the magic of Deus Ex and I overall found it to be a huge disappointment. Like I said though, I'm spoiled in that sense

I'm a college undergrad slowly working his way through the system. Sadly I wasn't into gaming early enough to enjoy gems like System Shock and DX, but Kotor is hands down one of my favorites (along with most RPGs). Thanks to that I've started splitting time between TOR and LoL. Those of you who play TOR look for the darkcloud legacy on East Coast PvP servers. Really happy to see SupCom on here. Makes me want to go find my old copy. Although im scared to bring that or sins out cause I know I'll get even less done with those around.

Im Martian, i am a huge SoaSE fan    A huge Diablo series fan!  I also play racing games, FPS's, RPG's and the only MMO game i have tried is Warcraft, because it was free to level 20 and i hoped by playing it i would get a Diablo 3 beta key.  
Which i didnt lol

I am absolutely gagging at the bit to get my hands on Rebellion and cant wait to see what treats this game has in store for us!

Morrowind + KoToR = amazing games (it's a shame TOR is bad)
Ever play Neverwinter Nights and Dungeon Siege 1?
Fallout 3 and Skyrim are AMAZING (coulden't get into Oblivion)

Wreslting is a sport but let's face it, WWE and TNA don't treat it like a sport. it's more entertainment than actual sport and have VERY tough lives not only their way of life but takes a big toll on their bodies just to please the fans which I love about them. The rest of sports though? kinda "meh.." to me.
I can understand that about racing games and often think the same sometimes (NFS: Underground 1+2 being a good example of this)

That sounds...um....quite complicated xD are you enjoying it atleast? I woulden't have the foggiest clue where to even begin to ask about what all of that involves specifically

Ahhh then we agree to disagree! I loved it! I am hoping they do a sequel to it and I honestly did think it captured the old feeling of choosing how to deal with a situation (stealth? gung-ho? certainly no sneaking in a vent with a flamethrower and torching people as they go past and dragging them in it like days of old xD)

I am also at College though, not in the same way haha. I actually work at a college as a "facilities assisstant" apart of the Building Services. Do you actually work at the college as an apprentice or something? not sure on the US lingo sorry.
It is NEVER too late to get a copy of DX on Steam or somewhere else and play it! (I believe a HD texture pack was released a few months ago aswell)
I have heard bad things about TOR but KoToR is amazing (same with LoL)

Hey Martian! who isn't a huge SoaSE fan? it's a beautiful game with only 1 drawback = no campaign! but still has enough to love it haha. I didn't and still haven't played any Diablo game!   I really did not enjoy WoW though I do love Warcraft 2+3
Join the waiting club with Rebellion ;D I read a preview on the titan ships before and wow..they look like they will hurt alot.

That's exactly what I initially though but you get into it and with a bit of reseach, it's not too bad. I'm really enjoying the program so far! And yea, I used to argue about the reasons I dislike new games like DX:HR when compared to their older counterparts, but there's really no need. Afterall, its just a game and I'm glad you're enjoying it. On the brightside though, I really, really loved the Icarus Effect book. Was a lot of fun and if you enjoyed the game, you'll love it even more after reading this one. Shines light on the baddies from the game.

Anyway, I noticed in the other thread that you enjoy Forged Alliance! If you have a minute, look into Forged Alliance Forever.

Hello all! I'm Derantol, and I tend to be a forum lurker. I do check pretty frequently, but I usually don't feel like I have more to contribute to a conversation by the time that I get there, so I often don't post. In any case, I'm watching all of you... :V

IRL, I'm a 22 year old university student going to school in the Pacific Northwest for a music degree. I think that will eventually turn into some sort of composition and performance degree, but at the moment I'm not sure if it's feasible to just jump straight into composing or if I should focus more on getting a regular gig with a symphony somewhere.

Aside from music, I like computer games a lot (surprise!) and I'm something of a math geek. I tend to prefer non-traditional games; I play WC3 and SC for the special maps, but I'm absolutely awful at the regular versions of those games. That being said, I enjoy playing just about anything as long as it's made well, whether that means a strategy game, an RPG, FPS, fighting games, whatever. I've been playing LoL on and off since it came out, but I've only recently started getting decent at the game.

I'm looking forward to playing SoaDA! I imagine I'll be more active after the next big announcement, when there's some real meat to chew on. Until then, see you all around!

Hi all!

My name is Rob aka Mirez, I am 21 years old. I study applied arts and technology. Gaming is one of my biggest hobbies, I've played quite a few RTS games (AOE1/2/3, AOM/TT, SC2, SoaSE, CnC3/4, Universe at war Earth Assault). The Heroes of Might and Magic games are also one my favorites. Though I've also played quite a few other games NFS/Battlefield/CoD/FIFA/Pokemon.

My interest in Sins was recently rekindled by rebellion, on the SoaSE website I read about this game. Because I like the way the Devs think about RTS games (less action based more '4x') I'm interested in how this game will turn out. Being interested in becoming a game developer myself I try to get into as many betas as possible so I hope I can into SoaDA's beta as well, after rebellion of course .

Yep, a good book! You can get it pretty cheap on amazon. And no, I never actually finished the game but my brother who has told me all about it and I also saw some game ending videos. Nontheless I have heard the after credits scene. Interesting. To be honest the story seems good enough, it's the gameplay that turned me off.

As for FAF, it's pretty popular, always updated and the game is still being balanced with new patches. Also, it works with steam version. The reason to get it would be the community game patches and online play (they just had a tourney and I'm sure they'll have more).

Hi there. I'm a musician (cellist), but I've been into video games for a while now. Morrowind and the Legend of Zelda series are probably my favorite games, but I loved SoaSE and I'm looking forward to this new endevour by Ironclad.

The only RTS I've ever really put time into before Sins was TA Kingdoms--which I miss, regardless of how dated it looks now. The only online gaming I've done was a fair amount of Halo: Reach, since I'm primarily a console gamer.

This community is looking interesting so far. It'll be fun to watch the evolution of the game and community together.

I think almost everyone here is a fan of SoaSE (for good reason ofcourse) and let's face it, the devs are great! I am hoping Rebellion is going to be released on Steam or atleast GamersGate (the old Impulse which I loved but vastly underrated)
Got quite alot of RTS fans here so far and I don't think we have seen the last of them haha

Also: Pokemon Red + blue ftw G1 all the way!

Understandable hehe, I did love that post-credit scene though especially with the re-mastered kick-ass theme! (though im not sure why it sounds like the X-men's theme)

I have been suggested FAF before but..well..I don't play it online much at all and when I do it's mainly coop.

I think you are the very first cellist I have ever met! (both offline and online), is it a hard instrument to master or easy? and are you apart of an Orchestra?
Ahh Legend of Zelda...how could I forget such a great IP (Twilight Princess was great and I have yet to play Skyward Sword)

I would suggest you play a game called Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance then saying that..if your not into the sci-fi theme then you probably might not enjoy it.
I did love TA kingdoms to bits when I played it years ago but I have lost my disks for it :\
I still got TA though game will NEVER get old for me.

Some of you may know me from the SoaSE community (Stant123 over there too).  With Rebellion requiring steam, and my refusal to deal with Steam until Valve's treatment of customers changes, my time there is pretty much at an end.  Fortunately, this game was announced to the public and it sounds like it's more my style of game anyway.

Long time (and when I say that I mean more then 25 years experience) pen and paper D&D player so RPG's, fantasy, adventure, and most MMO's are my favorite styles of games.  Looking forward to trying this game out this weekend when I have some free time.  Should be a blast.
