I think cavalry minions will be available in game. But what abput Cavalry heroes would be really cool, in mi opinion something LoL is really missing. This game seems much more suitted to field cavalry, trample would be a fantastic adition to the game :D Anyone knows something ?

Cavalry is definantly in the game but as for a cavalry hero? I guess some sort of Centaur might be the best way to go for it :P presuming here ofcourse.

I would not see why we would not get one, even more is the issue of cavalry in definition when it comes too fantasy.

Ah cavalry, the most glofied unit of european society in medieval times. Also the omega army for age of empires 2 :D  . Oh hey have you noticed that the cavalry in the screen shots aren't horsemen? They're riding some sort of gazelle-like mammal with two horns on thier heads. Also in LoL, Nunu is technically a short guy riding a big yeti, so he could be called a rider and steed. I wounldn't be surpised if a cavalry hero shows up in SoaDA but what i'm more interested in is whether or not there will be a cavalry nation, where all the soldiers are cavalry or cavalry surport like the mongols were.

Yeah Nunu is just riding the yeti hence his title "The Yeti Rider" though apparently he isnt classed as a mounted since it is the Yeti that does all the moves.

I doubt they were will be a cavalry nation, just cannot see it happening.

A cavalry race would be kind of like Rohan in the LOTR rts (first one, didnt play the second one). I dont see it happening either. It is just more difficult to differentiate between units (assuming units get/need an iconic look to be easily identifiable on the battlefield) when everone is "a guy on a horse" even if one has a spear and the other has a sword.

Iv always hated Calvary centric forces in a fantasy theme. They just don't seem real with all kinds of magic, creatures, and other fantasy elements, being respected too perform.

This is why I don't see it happening.
They woulden't fit at all with the game except in the capacity they are already in which is the traditional RTS role of cavalry (like they worked in Age of Mythology).

In all honesty, there should be a faction whose cavalry is armored bear riders. How awesome would that be?

Not the biggest fan of cavalry; I dislike the look/feel of units on horseback (simply a preference). However, I liked the idea for a centaur hero as per Ian. +1

um..isn't that a guy on the back of a Rhino? I think that is quite different than a Centaur or standard cavalry :P

I've always thought it would be cool to have a horse archer hero, with some kind of ability that lets them auto-attack while still moving or something along those lines. Maybe having a cavalry hero who had a charge/trample ability that effected all units assigned to him would be neat.

No..Thats a bad idea, a hero that can run away why fighting? Ok....I would just run every time I see him...Wait he is faster then me? Of joy he can kill me regardless of what I try. These would be my exact thoughts when I see a mobile hero that can auto attack while moving. There would be no way too balance it, simply due too the sheer ability too attack while moving. If you have some kind of mana or health dependent skill I can live with it but the auto attack would be too unbalanced.

Well I didn't mean like ALL the time...I was thinking more along the line of something like Irelia's ult from LoL. More of an active ability, I don't know if it would even be possible to effectively control a character who was just attacking everything as you moved them around the map. When I said auto-attack I was thinking of it acting as kind of a steroid ability that wore off after a duration.

Mirana from DotA is mounted.If anyone played from here Total War series , there were a lot of mounted commanders that really looked great ,from egiptians who were riding elephants to the common horse in Rome . Even chariots ,but i can't find a way to put this one in SoDA.
About auto attacking while running? Just unbalanced. Think about chasing a champ and you can permanently auto attack him.

Well if the skill was somewhat his Ultimate and it uses (Yx2)(Z)mana per second with Z being the number of seconds, It could work.

I think it's pretty obivous: attacking while moving = unbalanced, unfair and generally a bad idea.

If there was such a cavalry hero then it shoulden't be a ranged one. it should have a lance, halberd, speak, axe, mace, flail or even sword.

That is an auto-attack an attack that occurs whenever something is in range. As too control it would be quite easy click a target too attack and move.  The biggest problem still is that as an abilities it will be hard too balance out.

Ahh, well Total Wars games have no strategy might I add..Just spam horse archers and win.  Outside of the calvary was useless  often using only anti-cavalry based units was enough to win on harder settings.

In my post I said I would approve something like this. but as an "Auto-attack" or attack that occurs just by click on a target, then that can not be balanced and should nor even be tried. However this is more of the approach too such an idea that must be used. We could also use per number of shots, too encourage the stacking of mana over other things.
