It would be cool if you could rally trick out your army as the commander. For instance you could buy an "Elven" army and then always have them.

Assuming that Ironclad does the same quality of work that they did with Solar Empire, yeah, this game will rock. It says the customization thing in the Game Informer article and one of the interviews.

Welcome to the forums by the way!

I can't wait to see what some of the army skins are going to look like. It looks like Ironclad is poised to take some of my dough...but I have a feeling it'll be worth it.

I have a question on the customization of armies, would there be variants of such armies?

An example would be,

Elves:
Wood Elves: Primarily Archers, with strong rare Treekin units?
High Elves: Powerful Mages, with Expensive specialized units,
Blood Elves: Powerful Melee units, Limited but powerful anti-magic

Humans:
Di Vinci: Technology orientated
Empire: Pure Numbers
Holy Templars: Religious Order, Flagellants?

Dwarves:
Standard: Typical under the mountain dwarves
Outshire: Dwarves that live on the surface in small communities, ranger like survivalist orientated
Engineers: Technology orientated.

Well the only thing that we know in that general direction is that there is a imperial faction, and it's the one that they're using right now. If you take a look at the pictures will see that it is very much a humanoid race. However they don't have horses rather they have some antler wearing horse-like thing instead. As for different variants in the race i really don't know they just haven't released much in that direction yet.

what about making it so when you start the game, the players vote on what army type they want, or the commander chooses what army type they want?

Once again, I don't know. However it is likely that it could be this way.

Or it could take a different route and have straight up factions that stay one direction.

Isn't the army selection dependant on the Commander and his own preference?

If i were the commander i'd want the faction I can play and know how to use. Not others picking for me.

agreed. there are so many different routes this could take. it could be voting, commander chosen, or allegiance chosen. Say after a tutorial, or a few games, you choose between 2+ sides, and that will be your side unless you choose reallocate yourself, and as that side, you play certain factions, that contain certain bonuses.

If you're going to have different types of one faction, why not call them different factions and be done with it? That's what every other game does...

*cough* Sins Rebellion *cough* :D

Tis a good point though, if they will be fighting against the other faction (wheither or not it affects the lore) then you might aswell call them another faction instead of a faction within the faction, makes it simpler then.

Right there with Kenshin.  The join-in option sounds great.  I just hope you don't step into the shoes of a feeder.  I'd much rather start at level one and grow naturally than jump into a 0/12 hero just to end the game 1/28.

If everyone else is over level 16 and you start at level 1 then you will probably become a feeder regardless because 1. you have no XP or levels to combat the enemy heroes and 2. you have no items like every one else would by that time further increasing your handicap.

Well thank you for pointing out the obvious but what I meant by that is I'd rather start with a clean slate regardless.  When other players far out level me in League, there is an xp handicap.  Or at least more xp for a lower level in that sense.  And as useless as a level 1 would be, it would be more of a distraction for the other team to waste abilities on killing him.  You know what?  Who cares.  Clearly if I were to hop in a game of that magnitude it would already be over anyways.  ;) I just plan on playing my role and carrying my team to victory!

Im not sure about the factions... u sure there will be different "races"? I dont know. Maybe they just have a skill tree or cosmetic features, to make a MOBA-like balance  :P
