Well thank you for pointing out the obvious but what I meant by that is I'd rather start with a clean slate regardless.  When other players far out level me in League, there is an xp handicap.  Or at least more xp for a lower level in that sense.  And as useless as a level 1 would be, it would be more of a distraction for the other team to waste abilities on killing him.

Hey, pointing out the obivous still has it's uses :P
Well it woulden't be a waste of abilities because they can get gold from your death with it and if you keep getting killed constantly then they will actually deny you pretty hard in terms of XP which you would really need for your abilities.

:)

i played a game of LoL like that once, i dc'd and came into the game 20 mins late, everyone was about lvl 14. i finished the game because i knew i was about to lvl up. but i just jungled and defended our base and made my way to lvl 12 by the end (the others were 18 by then). and the enemy WILL try to go for the easy kill.  (i actually managed to kill a tryndamere who was 8 lvl's higher than me that game)

anyway are we still talking about customization?

Let's try and get it back there ;)

I have been wondering today wheither or not the game will have a system like Age of Empires, Company of Heroes or not have any research tree at all and have a game an RTS game like SupCom where you don't need to research anything at all and instead you just buy the units.

What i think is going to happen is this: a commander will be associated with a specific race/army and there is no changing that. Besides skins for heroes/champions (maybe commanders too?), i don't think that there will be a ton of customization outside of each game

Damn if the commanders could get skins and what not?  Imagine seeing a skin for the Siege Dragon that made him look like Godzilla or something?  Holy crap that idea just made me smile.  If not, maybe just the generic army skins change into a see of red and white and the higher ranked ones are dressed as Waldo?  Okay now I'm really smiling.

Well...if there is a elf-ish army....it would give the commander some options with wood elves, dark elves, high elves, silly elves, etc

I am presuming that would only count for the standard units, right? Wood elves for Archers, High Elves for magic support etc

No...the entire army's look. Maybe a variant of the same faction, but with a trade off. Better archery skills vs a drop in melee skills/lose one type of unit to gain another. This would essentially increase the faction count...but I doubt that anything like this is gonna happen.

with the amount of commanders we will get i think it will be more likely that different kinds of elves will be different armies altogether.

more than likely. GW did a good job of depicting various high/dark elf factions. maybe we'll see something like those

I want true balance between commanders. I mean, like the merchant commander having posibbilities to win vs the dragon commander : P

balance is always key and in soada's case whether the merchant commander will beat the dragon commander will probably depend on the entire team above all...

Possibly but the Merchant Commander should definantly have a big boost to his economy to churn out the smaller units to compensate the lack of a singular giant behemoth unit.

I am sure the Merchant Commander would help out heros with gold and have more money for troops, but who doesn't want to summon a giant dragon that kills stuff?

I think their should be a commander store that allows you to buy weapons for your units and you get to see those items you but on your units.  Like new swords that increase damage by a percent and see the swordsmen with that sword, same for armor and helmets.  Or if their is magic you should be able to buy a magic book as a commander with points you get from games and then your mages would cast cosmetically different spells with slightly more damage.  Basically it would give an incentive for buying items instead of new heros and commanders, while keeping the game fairly balanced.

I would like to see that happen aswell. would be a good small thing to see like if you bought a weapon that increased damage but the icon shown it as an axe your guys will start holding axes and stuff :)

i agree as far as that when you buy skins you should be able to see them ingame, but giving bonuses for cosmetics or even bonuses for things bought out of game goes too far. it comes too close to a buy to win kind of game.
