There has been a lot of hype about the commander role, and each commander needs four pllayers or heroes.  So do you guys think there will be enough players who want to go as heros, that anyone who wants to play commander can do so?

I think there will probably be about even because many people don't like to have to control everything whereas others want all the control

Yeah I am sure there are a few people here who will only want to play one role and not the other but I know I would be happy with any role aslong as it is fun for all involved.

At release there will be 25 Heroes. ALL of them should be different and varied enough to make 4 people want to play atleast 1 :)

i think there will probably be more people who want to play commander (or just as much) as hero players, but because there is just one commander for 4 heroes i think it will be harder to get to the commander role. it just depends on how ic is going to handle the matchmaking. i kinda hope there will be a different queue for commanders because then you will just have to wait longer before you get into a game as a commander.
like that everyone can decide for him/herself if it is worth the wait.

I'm definitely looking forward to playing the champs more. While the commander role is cool, I'd rather just be responsible for myself until I get a really good idea of the game mechanics.

Join the club :D hehe I don't think it would be that hard to pick them up though.

Murdeoc, Any ideas if they have confirmed how the roles will be picked?

no i dont...
thats one for the questions topic though because i do think that will be one of the first things a new player will run into.
also @ werewalrus, i might not understand how to play my first game, but i always learn fastest from my mistakes...

I'm willing to play either. I think I would prefer the commander role. But a good commander should be familiar with all the heroes. And besides I'm sure playing a hero would be much more relaxing. I think the wait times in the hero pool vs the commander pool will help even out the numbers.

I think more people will want to play the Commander. There are plenty of MOBA/ARTS games out there where players can take on the role of a hero. However, there is only ONE game where players can take on the role of the Commander: SoaDA. It seems likely that the people most interested in this game are the ones who want to play as the Commander.

There's some definite truth in that. However many people will probably play both roles and also the overall pool of people who play MOBA style games is larger than those that play RTSs from what I've seen.

I figure, since the commander role is very dependent, the mayority of players will try out the commander feature, but stick with playing as a hero. Though maybe i am wrong, maybe it's split up equally in the end. Though i agree with IDyeMyHairBrown. Since all the other MOBAs' offer the same thing, with heroes. BUT i still think thtat the unique elements in the game will still charm players. WE'll just have to wait and see. (sorry for such a twisting post) ^^

I want to play as one of the heroes. I like the commander as an additional bonus, but champs all the way!
