My co-worker and I are graphic artists. We loved Sins of a Solar Empire. I read the article about this game in (gamepro I believe?) and immediately showed him how great the concept seemed. He was impressed, looked at the screenshots and said "oh god... why is everything yellow?"

And I haven't been able to get that comment out of my head. I assume this will be fixed? He really is right.

Welcome to the forums man! :D
I am guessing it is because it stands out from the green and brown :)

I have to mention that it has been stated that the current screenshots are out-dated already and that they have been updated

Hahahaha. Just to clarify for people who may not understand, green and brown also have yellow in them. When I say "too yellow" I dont mean the color yellow, I mean if you have CMYK slidebars, the yellow should be brought down. Everything looks like its dead noon in the middle of summer, and somehow the trees are still dehydrated.

excellent. I'm SO supportive of this concept, and I'd hate to have anything get in the way. I want this game to succeed.

After reading this I instantly went to the screenshots and the game does have a lot of yellow.  I think it can be fixed easily, just make grass greener and the ground paved with cobblestone or nice dirt.

It's probably signature to that specific map. I'm sure they will have other maps with 'cool' colours, or 'hot' colours, etc.

Those screenshot were all taken with the same time of day - the overall color will depend on the lighting in the day/night cycle :) And yes, there are many more decals/textures/props/other details in the works. You're seeing a 'quickie' map

Sweet! Day cycles - something LoL has been sadly bereft of. Here's hoping for zombie/lycanthrope/vampire/undead game mechanics tying in with the time of day!

LoL has a day/night map but I guess that is it.

It is a very good thing that SoaDA will have a day cycle indeed :D will be pretty cool.

LoL does not have a day/night map. You're thinking of DOTA.

Wow this provides a good concept for a lycan race.  If the days change multiple time during a match, then the lycan race could have a passive ability that turns their units into werewolves during the night and would increase their hp or attack.  If they did add vampires it would be fun to see them as a night time only units and when the sun comes out they either die or  there could be a special building to hold them.

Or they could become like Blade :P minus the guns.

I just googled and stuff now and you are right. What I was thinking of was the Autumn/Halloween version of the map.
I was most definantly not thinking of DOTA2 though :P

Is vision range and LOS/FOW connected to the day and night cycles like in WC3, what about terrain elevation, is that tied into day and night cycles as well?

Light day cycles sound interesting, especially if it can impact units on the field.

Drunken hobos in rags with pitchforks on your flank you can safely ignore suddenly turn into angry werewolves, opening up a new front.
