I was just thinking...
The devs removed base building because it puts too much strain on the commander.
They don't want the commander to build towers in fear of towerspam.


My idea is to allow the commander to build outpost  anywhere in the map, but they should be really expensive to stop spamming but allow placing them in strategic locations.

And every outpost should have let's say three building pads where the commander  can  place : towers, or spawn points which automatically spawn minions which go to a designated lane.

I think this will not burden the commander but it will make every game different.

Tell me what you think. I hope if it gets popular the devs will consider it.

Yeah I've advocated a similar approach. I would only qualify your suggestion by limiting the places a Commander can choose to establish an outpost. For example, in a given map, there should be X amount of predetermined places of potential strategic importance, where the Commander can establish outposts. That way we wouldn't have players putting outposts right outside the enemy base, or in trolling positions, etc, and yet the player still has enough autonomy to feel like he/she is making a strategic choice.

That's an interesting idea. I like it; hopefully it's viable enough and the devs like it enough that they can include it ^_^

Well..I am not so sure honestly.

We already have teleportation pads which can teleport you across different places across the map, we have to hold areas to gather resources like CoH plus the commander can create a unit that acts as a mobile spawn unit. if you think about it, there isn't that much need for an outpost since the map woulden't that all that large to require one.

I know about the moving spawning platform, but that moving spawning platform can't hold a champ for long as they said that a champ can easily kill a captain. The idea is that an outpost is like a small base out of the main base.

Ahh but you could always reinforce one of those teleportation pads with the Captain along with as many units as you can muster until you are able to possibly create a tower there or have some of your Allies to help you out if need be

I like the idea but i dont feel it would work out well in game because it would just distract base defense and add more gold flow to other team in reality.

Or spawn non-gold/EXP creeps that are clearly different in visuals.

But I guess that would be too game-changing.

Personally, I feel like towers should still be implemented as buildable structures, but the gold cost for each tower should increase to counter "tower spamming." I think that would allow more options for defense as a commander, but not make tower building a spammable function.

Like:
Tower 1 = 500 gold
Tower 2 = 750 gold
Tower 3 = 1000 gold
Tower 4 = 1500 gold
Tower 5 = 2000 gold

numbers obivously rough but...yeah it could work like that! unless you have a really powerful team already who are dominating the lanes and the map.

When did buildable towers get ixnayed? I thought those were still "under consideration".

They were taken out about 1.5-2 months ago. It was a minor point in a bigger article, forget which one.

just a max number of towers can do it as well...
maybe also restricted to particular locations?

A max number of towers still woulden't stop them from stacking them in one singular place though :\ and if you only have a certain amount in the same number of locations then it isn't really that tactical in thinking where to put them since everyone will know were they are going.

If the towers are weak to area of effect damage then it'd be dangerous to put towers close enough to get hit by the same spells.
