I had a brilliant revelation whilst thinking about matchmaking in this game.  I think that to make up for the commander to hero ratio Ironclad could have commander on commander 1v1 matches.  This is so that if matchmaking is a little unbalanced with more commanders then heros, then those command seeking players could duke it out in 1v1 matches.  It could be done by giving more gold for npc and enemy peon kills to make up for the lack of heros, unless they have hero npcs.  What do you guys think of this idea?

Sins is a hybrid ARTS/RTS. I'm sorry, but it's not an RTS. Commanders in excess will just have to wait longer. I really can't see them doing this.

That said, they do have a system in place to give people more free currency based on whether or not they're playing a role "in demand," so to speak. For example, 100 people are playing heroes and 10 commanders. Anyone who queues up as a commander during this time will get more of the game's free currency.

But this would be a way to help provide extra gameplay and if their is 100 commanders and 10 heros, it is a way to make sure that the commanders don't have to compromise and just play in a 1v1.  I am pretty sure people were talking about a computer controlled hero when a player leaves from a match, if not this gametype could still work since the only other thing yu would need to do is adjust gold from killing npc in the jungle and enemy units.  I think they could do this if they already have some sort of AI for the heros and it wouldn't take too long to adjust gold prices.

You have a good point, but you're missing mine. It doesn't fit in the genre. Maybe they could put it in if it's a legacy issue for commanders to be much more popular, but the thing is, some people would only play those games and it would detract from the game they're trying to create. They want as many regular games as possible per second, and this would tie up commanders.

Let's look at it this way: If there are 10 commanders and 1,000 heroes, then they need as many commanders as possible to play. This option would mean that some of those commanders, I'd say probably 2-4, would be playing 1v1s and thus, more heroes are waiting on them. It solves one issue but creates another.

Sounds like a cool tournament idea though..for controlled gaming populations.

Yeah Fleur has said my thoughts on this issue.

SoaDA is NOT an RTS game (and can people stop comparing this with RTS games please? it may have a couple of RTS elements but it is NOT an RTS game >.<) .

If you start allowing Commanders to have 1v1 then you should allow the Champions to have their own match which frankly would be stopping people from playing the game properly with the Commander + Champion gameplay.

They may include it as a different game mode (like they have hinted at with the 3v3 and 5v5v5) but I cannot honestly say it would be a good thing to have it.

Chances are there will be more people playing the hero role as apposed to the commander role and no, I would not endorse this...

you really think think the hero role will be so much more in demand? less than one person wanting to play commander for every 5 ppl wanting to play a hero is what you are expecting then...
the idea would only be viable when there are a lot of ppl who want to play as a commander compared to heroes, which is what i expect. however my problem is mostly what ian (i think) is trying to say. when playing 1vs1 with another commander you will basically be playing a different game.

I do actually, though I might be wrong which has happened in the recent past.

i agree with that, more ppl will want to play hero's than commanders, but the ratio of 5 hero's to 1 commander... lets wait and see...

I believe what makes this game great looking is that it will attract both genres. I enjoy my MOBA and my RTS very much. I can see many people that are a hybrid such as myself, and also of the other 2 sort. I think it will balance, but a system of "in demand" roles helps a lot
